Combinatory Nutrition Supplementation: A Case of Synergy for Increasing Calcium Bioavailability
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents an overview of how calcium interacts with the various essential nutrients within an environment of cellular and hormonal interactions for the purpose of increasing bioavailability to the human body. One example of such interactions can be illustrated with calcium homeostasis. This paper gives an indepth discussion on the possible interactive permutations with various nutrients and factors leading to the promotion of calcium bioavailability to the body. The review hopes to provide further insights into how calcium supplement formulations can be improved to better influence its bioavailability in the human body. Keywords—Bioavailability, environment of cellular and hormonal interactions, combinative nutrition, nutrient synergy.

Effect of reproduction on the bioavailability of calcium, zinc and selenium.
Nutrient needs increase during pregnancy and lactation to support fetal growth and milk synthesis, respectively. Physiological adjustments that are made to meet those needs alter the fraction of ingested nutrient retained, or the bioavailability. Using stable isotopes as tracers, we measured calcium, zinc and selenium homeostasis in women during reproduction. The physiological response, and the...
متن کاملReduction of some atherogenic indices in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver by Vitamin D and calcium co-supplementation: a double blind randomized controlled clinical trial
The role of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) as a potential independent cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factor has recently gained considerable attention because CVD is the common cause of death in NAFLD patients. We aimed to estimate the effects of vitamin D supplementation alone or in combination with calcium on atherogenic indices, liver function tests and grade of disease in pati...

متن کاملPnm-29: Effects of Vitamin D Supplementation in Reproductive Function of Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Background Vitamin D deficiency is common in women with PCOS. Vitamin D is thought to influence the development of PCOS through gene transcription, and hormonal modulation influences insulin metabolism and fertility regulation. Therefore, the aim of this review article is to study the effects of vitamin D supplementation in reproductive function of PCOS women. MaterialsAndMethods This review ar...
متن کاملImpact of Acidified Sodium Chlorite and Enzyme Treatment on the Microbial Load and Energy Bioavailability of Feedstuffs
The presence of microbial load and high fiber content in various non conventional feedstuffs limit their utilization in poultry feed. In the present study, the feedstuffs were treated with acidified sodium chlorite (ASC) and its impact on the microbial load and metabolizable energy availability was assessed in the chickens. The effect of supplementation of feed grade enzyme was also evaluated...
